Job requirements

At BotsAndUs, hardware is a critical part of our product offering. We design and build our robots in house and have an exciting opportunity to hire a workshop technician.

In this role, you’ll be working within the hardware team to ensure the smooth operation of our spaces, equipment and robots. Your time will be split between our main location in Paddington (West London) and our warehouse in (Oxfordshire) so it's essential you possess a full UK driving licence.

Day to day your responsibilities will include servicing tools and machinery, implementing schedules and ordering parts to ensure the equipment is in excellent working order.

You will be responsible for maintaining and holding others accountable for the organisation, status and cleanliness of the spaces.

When we need to build robots you will have to support the hardware team with the build and assembly process and contribute your ideas to improve the designs. There will be many stages of the engineering process where you will be able to get involved and help us create our product.

A key requirement will be maintaining and organising inventory of consumables. (fasteners, drill bits, stock, electronics, material etc.) When we receive orders of parts and components you will be responsible for intake and quality control, checking delivered parts against the requirements.

You will be asked to help prepare testing spaces for the wider teams, maintain our demo and showrooms and support us setting up our stands at exhibitions where we demonstrate our technology. You would also be expected to visit customer sites to support us with the setup and installation of robots ready for testing and deployment.

This is a physically active role. The ideal candidate should have experience in a similar position.

Requirements:

Essential

  • Experience working in and maintaining a Mechanical Workshop

  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical component types and classification

  • Familiarity with CNC milling machines, an understanding of how they work and their maintenance requirements.

  • Experience inspecting and testing assembled units to a specification

  • Experience installing complex equipment at various events

  • Experience of managing stock levels

  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety procedures

  • Ability to show initiative and work within a team

  • Demonstrates excellent organising ability, with a positive and proactive approach to duties and attention to detail.

  • Ability to adapt to changes in the workshop as projects and priorities change

  • Full Manual UK driving licence

  • Excellent communication skills and computer literacy (g-suite, microsoft office etc.)


Desirable

  • Experience in robotics/ precision manufacturing industry

  • Experienced in manual build and assembly processes

  • Experience using inventory management software

  • Positive can-do attitude towards work and fellow team members

  • Small scale electronic assembly work, including soldering and wiring

  • Category C drivers licence
